Pneu-Back Program

Pneumex Revolutionizes Back Care

The Pneu-Back Program is an aggressive, documentable approach to proactive and reactive back care. The emphasis is posture, flexibility, functional strength, and lifetime skills; designed to accommodate those with a variety of physical handicaps.

Making the Difference in Back Care

The process for backs begins with a postural evaluation. The Pneu-Map™ graphically measures postural curves and lean and also provides a cost effective non-invasive method of documenting curves without the need for so many X-rays. With the printout of the postural protocols, corrections can be made on the Pneu-Back ChairTM. The basic principle behind the chair is to strengthen the erector spinae and effect change in posture, reduce pain and increase range of motion. The strengthening of the small muscles can assist in the reduction of the curve in scoliosis.

Using the Pneu-Back ChairTM with unweighting stabilizes the pelvis and eliminates recruitment of the lower extremities. Acute, chronic patients experiencing pain begin with up to 50% of their body weight taken off. The Pneu-Cervical Halter unweights and stabilizes the head for neck and upper thoracic issues.

Unweighting Simplifies Rehab

Unweighting adds a new dimension to providing SAFE care for your clients and staff.  From acute, chronic back pain to cutting edge performance enhancement, unweighting is a key component in functional rehab.  The Pneu-Weight 0 to 360 lb. unweighting range allows the patient to perform low-impact kinetic exercises in an upright, functional position. Activities such as walking, running, stair climbing, jumping and balance may all be performed safely while unweighted.  If a patient loses their balance or starts to fall, the Pneu-Weight™ Balance Mode will support the patient’s entire body weight.  Pneumex has an unweighting model to fit every need; help your patients move on their own with a Pneu-Walker or with assistance on treadmills,   stationary bicycles, and stair steppers.
The Pneu-Weight™ and the Pneu-Vest™ allows the patient to perform low-impact kinetic exercises in an upright, functional position. The Pneu-VestTM unweighting harness fits the patient like a snug vest with a strap positioned on the buttocks. The vest allows the patient to move in an upright, controlled and safe position. It effectively grips the body to support part of the patient's weight. The Pneu-Vector Vest allows us to correct lumbar lordosis and hip related gait issues (valgus, varus).
The Pneu-Gait Foot Strap is designed to initiate a correct muscle firing pattern while walking.  It is  simple and effective way to dynamically correct    pronation, supination, external/internal rotation and drop foot.
Whole Body Vibration

Depending upon the patient, the process can include time on the Pneu-Vibe™ Platform (with or without traction) either before or after unweighting. Vibration causes an involuntary muscle response, as the muscles respond the circulatory and lymph systems and synovial fluid are stimulated. Vibration also helps shut down central nervous guarding and GTO inhibition.

In the treatment, utilizing the Band Exercise System while standing on vibration aids in eliciting a desirable neuro-proproseptive response while shutting down undesirable guarding response.

We use several methods of stretching. Vibration aids in flexibility and the ability to break down the guarding impulse, thereby increasing mobility. We also use the stretch chair and manual stretching.
